During the past months, Elgin had faced a number of car accidents which should led to different controversies. Various cases have been reported in Elgin`s area, but fortunately few of them have resulted in the loss of human lives. The following are the most notorious accidents that have happened.
Car Accidents within the Family
This is the case of a 40-year-old Elgin woman that has been held at Kane Country Jail on a $750,000 bail. The woman is supposed to have hit her husband with an SUV and then having proceeded to hit him seven more times. After the incident, the suspect drove into the Fox River while she was fleeing police, according to Daily Herald. The woman has been charged with first-degree murder attempt, aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon and criminal damage to property.
According to her husband, he was meeting her to get some paperwork done for the divorce he had asked. After she refused to give him the documents, he decided to get out of his estranged wife`s SUV. Accordingly, the woman deliberately started the car`s engine and hit him. While trying to chase him, she also hit two other parked cars. Luckily, they sustained minor injuries but they were taken to the hospital for further investigation of the injuries sustained.
Route 31 Closed
In March, another case of a car accident had been reported on Route 31 between National and Locust streets, near downtown Elgin, Illinois when a car hit a utility pole. This resulted in the closing of the street but fortunately no one was injured in the accident. We have represented many victims in similar accidents. Drunk and Charged With Reckless Homicide
Furthermore, on January 17 a 23-years-old Elgin, IL man who survived a fatal car crash in January, had pressed charges against a 25-year-old firefighter and paramedic. He sued for negligence, having driven under the influence of alcohol at the time the accident happened. When the accident happened, he was a passenger. The driver of the car was an 18-year-old man. Having crossed the center line of the roadway, they sideswiped the car in which were other sitting idle. Unfortunately, the accident resulted in death.
They are now looking for compensation as he himself said ‘’for medical bills, pain and suffering, and loss of normal life’’. The injured man suffered permanent injuries while he has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless homicide.
The accidents occurred in Elgin, Illinois should be an alarm to the Police Department and Elgin`s community to be more careful on the streets since such accidents can happen at almost any time of the day.
There are a lot of solutions for Elgin to be a better place and home for its tenants that drive and pass on this street daily. Campaigns to raise awareness and more severity from the Police Department should result into safer roads.
Finally, the message has to reach the core of the problem`s source, which are the people themselves that do not drive according to the laws of the Illinois state. In the end, it is the people that have to understand that this is no joke and that people lose and will lose lives if this kind of imprudence keeps repeating.
